Over the years I have nurtured my passion for dance & Art in all its forms using my VOICE, hands & my imagination.... This God given, creative desire was born out of inhaling the theatrical atmosphere I had been exposed to, being present with my father at his rehearsals and shows as a little girl.
My mother and father, both trained teachers read to me often as a child.
My reading ability won me the Primary Schools award for my elementary school, St. Joseph's Girls RC in 1986. In primary school I had been a choir member and orator.
In the 1980s I voiced scripts on the Government's Schools Broadcasting Program. At secondary school the love of Art followed me. Not only did I do Art at O'Level but also got involved in acting. At the secondary school level I won the Best Actress Award 1989 at the Schools Drama Festival for my role as 'Sadiku' in the play The Lion and the Jewel by Wole Soyinka. As a member of the Trinidad Theatre Workshop (TTW), in the 1990s, I polished and expanded my acting and theatrical skills where I performed literary works on the curriculum at different schools. The House of Jacqui Modeling School polished my stage presence and makeup skills. In 2012 I completed a B.A. in Communication Studies with Speech & Language Pathology at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad. This achievement I value deeply, as this propelled me to expand myself creatively and artistically. In 2019 I earned the MSc Strategic Leadership and Management from the same campus.
Life in Trinidad and England broadened my experiences that nourished my creativity and customer service ethos.
I remember appearing on stage at 'Song Shine' an underground artist mobile performing space in the early 2000s. I have emceed at weddings, orchestral events & special occasions, voiced ATM scripts, animations and more... Ah! Yes! I still write poems to mark moments and occasions as the waterwheel spins...
