This has been one of the BEST years of my life…WHY? It’s the year I stepped out of my comfort zone and started to TAKE some RISKS & CREATE MOMENTS that I could only depend on myself to do…It’s not that I didn’t tap into the other creative and supportive souls around. It’s because I had to START and, not depend on anybody else but ME . Have you ever seen a parked car and car wreckage? They may have different appearances in their shape but the one thing they have in common is the fact that they are not going anywhere. They are stagnant, parked up and get passed by. However a moving vehicle gets consistent notice as it becomes part of the traffic heading in a particular direction. That’s what I’m talking about. You got to be part of the TRAFFIC. If you don’t launch out with that new idea, new plan, then your dreams remain dreams… Are your talents and dreams parked up?
2020 awoke new and EXCITING DESIRES to CREATE and I did just that! I created a social media presence that also acts as a treasure chest of my ideas along my creative journey as I VOICE OUR WORLD… When you take risks you accept within yourself that the outcome can be as expected, greater than expected or a total flop…You set measures and markers for yourself or just sail the seas as the wind blows. Whatever you do you GET OUT THERE & CREATE those MOMENTS for yourself. Ready, set, GO!
Another BIG LESSON has been to PLAN TO KEEP MOVING. This may sound simple but it is actually necessary to sustain the efforts you have made. As for me I’ve toyed with different ways I could make impact that positively affects people and I’m getting ready to make that a bigger reality in 2021. The plan is important. This cannot be emphasized enough. I always try to ensure that I use what I have to serve others. I spend some QUIET TIME thinking and WRITING down a VISION. Once I can see it (not just in my mind’s eye), I have that constant reminder about what I’m supposed to do. That has been the fuel to keep me motivated and excited. Guess what? If you can’t get excited about what you are doing you really shouldn’t expect others to….Think about that.
BALANCE your life to include the invigorating, the serene and the mundane. I have learnt to embrace the routine activities that must get done and use them as my REST from creative activity. You’d be surprise to know how much mental stimulation I get from taking a CREATIVE break to fold laundry, wash dishes, prepare meals and EXERCISE. Oh Yes physical workouts stimulate good breathing technique to replenish depleted OXYGEN from wearing masks…our new normal when interfacing with others, as well as strengthens my core & vocal muscles.
A key that helped me maintain balance in 2020 has been to embrace serenity. I SEEK OUT MOMENTS of CALM. I highly recommend meditating on passages of inspirational texts and enjoying the company of positive people that stimulate LAUGHTER and positivity with ease. Embrace moments to CONNECT with good people. Try tuning in to nature. Take walks in green spaces, do some gardening, spend time reflecting. Tuning in to nature has always been a blessing; be it the rhythm from the rustling of leaves, the chirp of hummingbirds and parrots nearby or a sea bath massage…I am always refreshed & reenergized.
It is an honour to share my 3 BIG takeaways from 2020 with you, to help propel you into 2021 and beyond. They are simple, but effective and have really worked for me during this year of uncertainty and global instability. I’m not leaving them behind:
- Be part of the traffic
- Plan to keep moving
- Cultivate balance to sustain your creative energy
Just love it. Seen I have missed the traffic. Thanks. This is indeed very inspiring. Will let you know how I am adapting. Stay sweet.
I’m happy you found the information useful 🙂
